Vacancy Description

ECP Dietary Exposure Member (one post) Ref: ECP 04/2019

Candidates should have expertise in the metabolism of pesticides in plants and livestock, pesticide residues, and the assessment of dietary exposure in humans, with experience of relevant studies and their interpretation. Knowledge of risk assessment and risk management procedures relevant to human exposures to chemicals is particularly relevant.

Person Specification

Essential criteria

Applicants should have:

• Considerable scientific or other relevant expertise in metabolism of pesticides in plants and livestock, pesticide residues, and have gained recognition in the scientific or other relevant community in that field.

• Expertise in the assessment of dietary exposure in humans, with experience of relevant studies and their interpretation.

Desirable Criteria:

• Knowledge of risk assessment and risk management procedures relevant to human exposures to chemicals is particularly relevant.

• Be familiar with legislative requirements and the various supporting guidance documents regulatory exposure models that underpin the assessment of dietary exposure in humans

• Knowledge of Maximum Residue Levels in food and feed, including the methods of calculation, the underpinning legislation and their importance for trade

Additional Information

Meetings are usually held at the Defra offices in York, however some meetings may be held elsewhere in the UK.

Interviews will be held in London.
