Vacancy Description

Formed following the merger of 2gether NHS Foundation Trust and Gloucestershire Care Services NHS Trust, we remain committed to the ambition that formed the cornerstone of our conception in October 2019 – that of providing truly joined up physical health, mental health and learning disability services within the county.  Across our Trust, at all levels and in all locations, there is genuine ambition to deliver quality services to the communities we serve, to listen and respond to their needs and involve them in their care in the ways they want.  We are committed to developing the highest quality services that make genuine and meaningful differences to all those who use our services.  And underpinning all of this? Our values and behaviours.  Our guiding principles which shape all of our interactions with those we work with and those we serve.

We are still in the early days of our formation and we are mindful of the ongoing journey ahead of us, but we are confident that we have laid good foundations from which to build.  Our recent staff survey results evidence greater levels of staff engagement post merger and we are proud that 71% of respondents would recommend our organisation as a place to work.  Looking ahead, we remain committed to working inclusively and collaboratively with our staff, our patients, their carers and our wider system partners to actively seek ways to improve our services and deliver better outcomes for the communities we work within.

Person Specification

We are now seeking to appoint an NED to join us at what is a time of continuing evolution for our Trust – evolution which is set against the backdrop of the unprecedented challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, as we look to ensure the necessary continuity of skills and expertise at Board level, we are seeking a financially qualified individual with a track record of operating at Board level and of serving on or chairing committees, to eventually take on the role of Audit and Assurance Committee Chair.  The individual will join us as we move towards the next chapter in our journey.  One in which there is little doubt that pressure on finance and demands on services will be even further increased as we navigate the aftermath of the current crisis and a sector in the throes of significant reform.

As a Non-Executive Director you will bring independence and an external perspective, ensuring constructive challenge and scrutiny on our current and future business plans; and support to the continued development and harmonisation of our internal governance, structure and culture. Able to evidence sound judgement and with a demonstrable understanding of governance, above all else you will bring a set of personal values which align to our own and a genuine commitment to the health and wellbeing of the population we support.

We are particularly keen to develop the diversity of our Board and would encourage applications from those individuals who represent all protected characteristics; and in particular from BAME, LGBTQ+ and disabled candidates.
