Vacancy Description

As one of the largest and best performing community health providers in the NHS, here at Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust (KCHFT) we have much to be proud of, and at perhaps the most critical juncture in our history, we now require two new high calibre Non-Executive Directors to join our Trust Board.

We are an organisation of scale, complexity and impact. Our 5,000 staff provide CQC Outstanding rated services to three million people inside and outside of Kent, and have responded incredibly to COVID-19, adapting mechanisms of healthcare delivery and positively changing our relationships with the populations we serve and our partners across the developing Integrated Care System. It is against this challenging but exciting context that we are seeking two new Non-Executive Directors who will bring the skills, experience, and values to help us support our staff, innovate our service offering as we recover from the pandemic, and forge ever closer partnerships with the wider health and care system.

Person Specification

As one of our new Non-Executive Directors, you will show a genuine commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of the population we serve, and in return we offer an opportunity to have a tangible impact on our organisation, our staff, our population and our system. You will have a demonstrable commitment to honesty, integrity and diversity, and reflect our We CARE Values: Compassionate, Aspirational, Responsive, and Excellent. Alongside demonstrating these behaviours, we hope you will bring different insights, perspectives, and experience to challenge our thinking. Recognising the specific context of the Trust, we would welcome applications from candidates with strategy, leadership and governance experience gained at a senior level experience in at least one of the following areas:

  • People / workforce strategy and transformation; staff engagement and empowerment and organisation development
  • In the field of population health, inequalities and the way in which NHS organisations can add social value to their local community
  • Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise sector experience aligned to working with health and care or other relevant parts of the public sector
  • Customer service engagement and user experience and or patient and public engagement
  • Digital change experience
  • Clinical or health and care professional, including social work

We value and promote diversity and are particularly keen to attract candidates who might bring diverse perspectives and inclusive characteristics. We welcome expressions of interest from the widest possible range of backgrounds particularly those who are underrepresented at Board level in the NHS.
