Vacancy Description

Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (KGH) is seeking a new Non-Executive Director to join its Board of Directors.

Join us and be part of the Board of Directors, Non-Executive Directors are ultimately and collectively responsible for all aspects of the performance of the Trust and play a crucial role in bringing an independent perspective to the boardroom.

Working closely with the Chair and other members of the Board, you will have a strong commitment to the principles of the NHS and provide strategic direction, leadership and challenge at the Board of Directors.

Person Specification

As a Non-Executive Director, your role will be to develop and shape the corporate agenda, ensuring that the best interests of patients and local communities are at the heart of what we do. You will provide guidance, strategic advice and constructive challenge, holding Executive Directors to account for the performance of the Trust in meeting agreed goals and objectives. Driving a culture of performance, innovation and excellence you will be an ambassador for KGH, working in partnership with the Council of Governors and external stakeholders. Non-Executive Directors are expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to the Trust’s values.

The post holder will sit on the Trust’s Performance, Finance and Resources Committee and Group Transformation Committee. Experience in overseeing performance and finance and in delivering successful organisational transformation would therefore be advantageous. As a member of the Board of Directors, Non-Executive Directors are accountable to the Trust’s Council of Governors which is made up of elected and nominated representatives from the population served by the Trust, partner organisations and the staff governors. The Council of Governors represents the interests of the Trust’s members, our staff and the public. The Council of Governors will appoint the successful candidate to this role. Interviews will be conducted by a panel of Governors selected by the Council’s Appointment and Remuneration Group, and the Trust’s Chair.
