Vacancy Description

Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (NSFT) is one of the fastest improving Trusts in the country, making great strides over the last 18 months thanks to the leadership of our experienced and able Executive team, strengthened clinical and service user involvement, engaged and enthusiastic staff, and a systematic approach to quality improvement. With a clear and inclusive strategy for action, we are looking for a talented new Chair to lead our Board to continue this journey; working with partners across our integrated care systems, so that we can truly deliver on our service users’ hopes, dreams and aspirations.

We are pleased that our improvements are recognised externally, including by the regulators and commissioners. The CQC noted improvement in almost all areas as they moved us from ‘Inadequate’ to ‘Requires Improvement’. While we are proud of these achievements, our journey is far from complete and there is much local interest in our work. We will be looking to our next Chair to work alongside our Chief Executive to ensure the Board maintains and continues to build confidence in the Trust’s improvement journey. The successful candidate will need to harness the energy and determination of our caring staff, supportive partners, and dedicated service users, carers and Governors.

Person Specification

We are seeking an honest, compassionate and inclusive Chair who shares our vision and can provide outstanding leadership to our Board; propelling our ongoing transformation and change forward and building on the real momentum that we have achieved so far.  We need an enabling system leader with a passion for mental health provision. The successful candidate will be a strong champion for our values and the best interests of our service users and carers, listening to our stakeholders to make sure we fully understand, and are able to respond to, the challenges and opportunities ahead.
