Location: | Commissioners will not be required to work from a specific location. However, it will be necessary to attend meetings and events across the UK which may require overnight stays. |

Remuneration: | This post will be remunerated at a day rate of £250. Reasonable expenses will be reimbursed, including travel expenses and subsistence. As a post holder appointed for a limited duration, you will not be eligible for compensation upon the ending of your appointment |
Time Requirements: | The Commissioners will be expected to prepare for Commission meetings and liaise with the Secretariat outside meetings. The Commissioners will be expected to spend approximately one day per month on Commission business. |

Vacancy Description
These roles are an exciting opportunity to shape the social mobility agenda over the coming years, helping the achievement of the government’s goal of improving social mobility and acting as an advocate for this important issue.

Person Specification
The successful candidates will be responsible for supporting the Chair in ensuring that the remit of the Commission is fulfilled fully, promptly and properly. They will be advocates for social mobility and help to drive change both within and outside government. We are keen to recruit candidates who have a passion for making a difference and have made a practical impact in their field. Examples of areas we would welcome applications from candidates with expertise in include: business; HR; Further Education; and digital communications. Candidates must be able to demonstrate the following experience and skills:

Additional Information
The appointment will be made by Ministers for a period of no longer than three years, subject to performance. Reappointments beyond the three year term are subject to performance and to clearance by the Prime Minister.
Appraisal
The Chair is responsible for assessing the performance of the Commissioners.
