Vacancy Description
West Midlands Ambulance Service University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a candidate with substantial senior / Board level or equivalent expertise in a large and complex organisation, to join their Board of Directors.
Person Specification
The Trust is looking for an exceptional individual to provide leadership, independent and objective challenge, and diversity to our Board of Directors. In order to complement the existing skill mix of the Board, we are seeking the following:
An individual with relevant financial experience in the public sector, ideally at Board level in a large and complex organisation. Applicants should hold a recognised professional accountancy qualification e.g. CCAB, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent, as the post-holder may be required to Chair the Trust’s Audit Committee.
The Trust has a budget of just under £400 million per annum and employs over 7,000 staff and operates from 15 hub across the region. The Trust provides emergency and urgent services across to a population of 5.6 million people covering Shropshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Coventry, Birmingham, and the Black Country. The organisation has an exceptional financial track record with growth, and great financial stability and resilience during a period of the unprecedented challenge to the NHS as a whole. Whilst facing this challenge the Trust is committed to ensuring the patients receive quality care in the most appropriate settings.
The successful candidate will demonstrate commitment to and personal interest in enhancing health and care services and will have the highest standards of personal integrity. They will also be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of and alignment to our core values, and they will need to be a strategic thinker with experience of operating in a rapidly changing environment.
Candidates must be a resident within the operating area of West Midlands Ambulance Service.
