Vacancy Description
Wrightington, Wigan & Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (WWL) is looking for an inspirational leader to chair their board.
WWL is a successful Foundation Trust in the North West of England which serves a diverse population and is rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission across all core domains. We provide a range of acute medical, surgical, women’s, children’s and community services to 326,000 people across the Wigan Borough and world-renowned orthopaedic services on a national and international scale from our Wrightington Hospital site.
We have a strong sense of place and are proud to have built effective, collegiate relationships with our partners across the Healthier Wigan Partnership to provide the best possible healthcare for our community. We are also committed to education and research and our goal is to become a university teaching hospital of the future. We recognise the value of our people and we are always looking at innovative ways of working to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to achieve their purpose.
Our current Chair is due to retire during 2021, and we are now looking to appoint his successor to lead our unitary board and to work with Governors, Non-Executive and Executive colleagues to ensure that our successful and progressive Foundation Trust continues to thrive and develop. The new Chair will guide the delivery of our vision and strategy, providing inspirational leadership and expert stakeholder management.
Person Specification
This exceptional opportunity demands an outstanding individual who is passionate about improving the quality of NHS services for the population we serve. Working closely with our Chief Executive, you will represent the Trust across a wide range of stakeholders which demands a high level of personal credibility.
We are therefore seeking a strategic individual with extensive board-level experience in the public, private or voluntary sectors. An in-depth understanding of organisational governance is required and although experience in the NHS is not essential, you must be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of issues facing the sector and a strong commitment to our values in order to develop your own personal credibility.
